The long lasting presence of the Egyptian Geographical Society EGS https://egyptiangs.com/cont.php since 1875; since sharing in the foundation of the International Geographical Union IGU, and arranging 1925 IGU congress in Cairo, and in the light of our recent communication with IGU EC and commissions’chairs, and the success of our series of colloquiums and symposiums in the geographical arena in Egypt that are organized, shared and hosted by EGS during the last few decades that witnessed establishing tens of geography departments in the increasing number of schools of arts and education, and received hundreds of participants on state and international levels, all that had encouraged our will to arrange for the IGU Thematic Conference- Egypt 2025.

The Egyptian Geographical Society EGS had the greatest honor to present the invitation content document for organizing the IGU Thematic Conference, Egypt 2025 under the patronage of His Excellency the President of Egypt.
EGS building has thousands rare maps and manuscripts of the world in its wealthy and voluminous libraries and antique artifacts in its unique museums. EGS building is located in downtown Cairo Tahrir Square, near to Nile River, is surrounded by, historical House of Representatives, Parliament, built at 1866, Senate House, built at 1878, L"Institute dEgypte", founded 1798, Egyptian Museum 1835, the American University Palace, built 1860 and other amazing destinations.
The location of the venue of the conference in Cairo, which itself is an open museum, allows participants to explore the nearby historical Islamic Cairo, old Egyptian civilization Pyramids sites, the great iconic National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and many others, in addition to the widespread features of the urban renaissance and the huge achievements that Egypt has not witnessed before in modern history.
The location will also allow options to organize field trips and recreational visits to tourist and scientific destinations in different regions, according to the commissions and personal choices including: the New Administrative Capital of Egypt, Suez Canal, Alexandria, New Alamein and the World War II Museum and cemeteries, Red Sea resort Sharm El-Sheikh, Western Desert oases Bahriya, and Siwa, rather than furthest locations in Abu Simbel, Aswan, Luxor, Hurghada and Marsa Alam.
The conference is shared and guided by the International Geographical Union (IGU) and its commissions.

The International Geographical Union (IGU) is an international, non-governmental, professional organization devoted to the development of the discipline of Geography.
The purposes of the IGU are primarily to promote Geography through initiating and coordinating geographical research and teaching in all countries of the world. Its work is conducted through the instruments of its National Committees, Commissions and Task Forces.

This conference will be held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the 11th IGU 1925 Congress that was inaugurated by his majesty King Fouad,  and  it’s first Plenary Session was hosted inside the Royal Hall of the memorial building of EGS, established by a decree of Khedive Ismail Pasha on 1875.
